Baseline data collection for Bhutan Children's Book Initiative Project

Sponsorship Self Assessment 2014

The self assessment of Save the Children Bhutan Country Office was conducted on September 5th -6th at Zhemgang by a team comprising of Bishal Rai, Education Project Officer as the team leader and Sonam Pelden, Project Officer, as the recorder. The team was also joined by Seema Baral, Associate Director and Sonam Deki, Sponsorship Communication officer.

Two-days consultative meeting to develop curriculum for teacher’s training on reading skills and strategies.

Save the Children in collaboration with the Department of Curriculum Research & Development, Ministry of Education, conducted a two-day consultative meeting on June 14-15 at Namsey Choeling Resort, Paro, to develop curriculum for teacher’s training on reading skills and strategies.

Publisher’s Training

A three-day Publisher’s Training began in Thimphu on June 16 as a part of Bhutan Children’s Book Initiative, a collaborative project between save the Children – Bhutan Country Program and Ministry of Education.

The Publisher’s Training will develop the capacity of local publishers, authors, writers and illustrators to produce high quality age and context appropriate books for Bhutanese children.

Save the Children wins the first ever inter-agency basket ball tournament

 Save the Children- Bhutan Country Team participated in first ever one-day knock-out basketball tournament- “Partnership for Development”, organized by SNV on May 17, 2014 (Saturday) at the Bhutan Basketball Federation court in Thimphu.A toal of 13 International Organizations in the country took part in the friendly tournament that was organized as a platform for all the  international agencies to liaise and increase coordination and build partnership.
