The Department of Curriculum Research & Development (DCRD), Ministry of Education and Save the Children trained 20 teachers from Thimphu and Zhemgang as Trainers on Reading Skills and Strategies & Book Management under the Bhutan Children’s Book Initiative Project. The 5-day workshop began on 26th January and it was facilitated by Senior Education Advisor of Save the Children Joseph Nhan- O’Reilly.
The Secretary of Ministry of Education, Aum Sangay Zam and donors of the Bhutan Children’s Book Initiative (BCBI) Ms. Charlotte Ransom and Mr. Tim Dye launched the first 5 children’s books published under the BCBI project on October 21, 2014.
The Baseline data collection for Bhutan Children’s Book Initiative was successfully completed this week with data collected from four districts – two intervention districts (Thimphu & Zhemgang) and two control districts (Paro & Dagana). Save the Children launched a Mobile Library Bus Service in Bhutan on 26th December 2013. The event was graced by the City Mayor. The Mobile Library Bus Service is a Save the Children project in collaboration with the Thimphu Thromde Office.
