Six members of the Bhutan Children’s Parliament, four officials from the Election Commission of Bhutan, and Save the Children focal Officer for the Bhutan Children’s Parliament project visited Scotland from 21st to 31st March, 2017. The learning visit was funded by Save the Children Hong Kong with the objective to gain a better understanding of the Scottish Youth Parliament program
The Bhutan Children’s Parliament members joined 83 MSYPs who travelled from across Scotland to attend the Scottish Youth Parliament’s 62nd National Sitting in Edinburgh. During the SYP Sitting, the members of the Bhutan Children’s Parliament took part in consultation workshops, addressing topics such as poverty, medical consent, Brexit etc. They also attended a series of youth workshops entitled ‘Using Your Voice’, the aim of which was to give Members of the Children’s Parliament an opportunity to explore ways in which they can continue to use their voices to effect change following their time with SYP. The learning visit was an enriching experience for the Members of the Bhutan Children’s Parliament.
